Delete your account

You can permanently delete your Desider account and all associated personal data at any time. Two paths are available; both satisfy the GDPR Article 17 right to erasure.

In the app (fastest)

1. Open the Desider app (iOS or Android).
2. Tap the profile icon → Settings → Delete account.
3. Confirm. Your account, community contributions, saved items, preferences, reports, ad-interaction events, and uploaded photos are purged immediately.

Via email (no app required)

Send a deletion request from the email address on your account to privacy@desider.food with the subject line Delete my Desider account. We will:

• Reply within 72 hours to confirm receipt
• Send a confirmation link to the registered email address (to prevent unauthorized deletion requests)
• Purge your account within 7 days of confirmation and reply once done

What gets deleted

• Account row (email, username, hashed password, OAuth ids)
• All community contributions (ratings, review text, photos)
• Saved items, cravings, preferences
• Item reports and helpful votes
• Advertising interaction events (impressions, clicks, profile views, direction taps) — added 2026-04-18
• Uploaded images on the server

What gets retained

• Aggregate per-item scores — these are computed from many Desiders and cannot be unwound from any one contribution. They contain no individual identifier.
• Sentry crash logs — retained per Sentry’s default 90-day window. PII redaction is enabled so your email is never written to these logs.

Merchant accounts

If you have a merchant account under the same email, delete it separately. Sign in at merchant.desider.food and go to Settings → Close merchant account.

Campaign history and Stripe customer identifiers are retained under Art. 17(3)(b) for tax and accounting obligations (typically 7 years in the US), even after the merchant PII on the account is anonymized. See the retention policy for details.

Changed your mind?

Deletion is permanent. If you want to step back without erasing everything, you can sign out of the app and stop using Desider — nothing new will be collected until you sign back in.
