Privacy

Desider LLC operates the Desider app and website. We keep this short on purpose. The version below is what you actually need to know. The deeper details (specific vendors, security protocols, retention windows by data type) live with our compliance documentation and are available on request.

What we collect

Only what Desider needs to work:

• Your email, a username, and password to sign you in. If you use Google Sign-In, your Google name and profile photo.
• Your ratings, reviews, saved dishes, and cravings
• Your food preferences: dietary needs, spice and sweet tolerance, and the qualities you care about (taste, authenticity, value, portions)
• Your location, only while you use the app, to show nearby spots and sort by distance. We use it in the moment and do not keep a history of where you have been.
• Anonymous crash and performance logs, so we can fix bugs

We do not collect: a history of places you’ve visited, cross-app advertising IDs (the app has none), or payment-card details (the consumer app does not take payments).

How we use it

To run the app, calculate per-dish Desider scores from the community’s ratings, personalize your results, and keep the app stable. We don’t sell your data. We don’t share it with advertisers. We don’t use an advertising ID.

Writing a review is optional. If you add one, it may be shown to other Desiders and is also used, in aggregate, to surface anonymized insights about a dish (like “Desiders call out how fresh it tastes”). Those insights never carry your name, email, or any personal information. The reviews we use are only the ones written inside Desider. Where an overall Google star rating appears in the app, it is a public number shown for reference only. We do not store or republish review text from Google or other sites.

Your rights

You can, at any time:

• Export everything we have on you (Settings → Export my data)
• Delete it all (Settings → Delete account, or desider.food/delete-account)
• Edit your profile (Settings → Edit profile)

If you’re in the EU, UK, or California, the same rights apply through GDPR and CCPA. Email us and we’ll respond within the legally required window.

How long we keep it

• Account, content, and preferences: until you delete your account.
• Location: used in the moment for your search, never stored.
• Anonymous Desider scores: kept indefinitely (they carry no personal identifiers).

How we keep it safe

Industry-standard encryption everywhere data moves and rests, including certificate-pinned connections from the app. Your password is one-way encrypted, which means even we can’t read it.

Who helps us run Desider

We use a small set of trusted vendors for hosting, email, maps, and crash reporting. They process data on our behalf only, and none of them are allowed to sell or share your data. The full list is available on request.

Kids

Desider is a general-audience app and is suitable for all ages. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

Material changes show up as an in-app notification. The current version always lives here.
